Over the last couple of months, there have been many rumors and potential leaks about Resident Evil 9. Today, we bring you yet another one.
Let's start with the information:
The protagonists of Resident Evil 9 are none other than Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy, while Chris Redfield and Barry Burton will hang back as supporting characters. There are also hints to the involvement of Rosemary Winters (Ethan's daughter).
Resident Evil 9 will take place four years after Resident Evil: Village and focus on the investigation of Eveline's origins. The game will take place on an island featuring locations like an abandoned hospital and houses, caves, dark forests, a laboratory, of course, and a temple. The main villain is a man called Mr. Simon, who is overseeing the island's bioweapon program.
The story hints at the return of Blue Umbrella. Both Jill and Leon are infected by the Megamycete, which causes hallucinations and hearing Eveline's voice during the game.
The main enemy seems to be evolved zombies, who can run and use melee weapons. This sounds similar to your regular Ganados in Resident Evil 4. They worship the moon and sing to it while looking out to the sea. Resident Evil 9 will of course feature stalker-type enemies again, one that targets Leon and, while not confirmed if it's a stalker-type, a “Goatman” that targets Jill.
Jill will be dressed in a tactical suit, similar to the one she wears in Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares, while Leon will appear similar to the way he looked in Resident Evil: Damnation, but he will look considerably older with an unshaven face and slightly longer hair.
Resident Evil 9 will conclude the Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil: Village Megamycete storyline.
So where does the leak come from? A playtester supposedly leaked this info, which was picked up by Residence of Evil on YouTube and then shared by Biohazard Declassified on Twitter.
The playtests were allegedly conducted in April and September of this year.
