Zombie Movies 2024

As a fan of the undead (and infected), it still warms my heart to see the zombie genre keep on going. This year offers a bunch of interesting movie titles. Whether you're into the thrill of infected outbreaks or the slow burn of the slow, shambling dead, 2024 is shaping up to be a good year for zombie movies. Let's take a look at some interesting titles that have come out or will come out this year.

Handling the Undead

The poster for Handling the Undead Movie. It depicts a mother holding her dead child against a white background with a black cross.

This movie is a Norwegian adaptation of the novel by the Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, the same guy who wrote the vampire story “Let the Right One In” with multiple movie adaptations.

On a hot summer day in Oslo, the dead inexplicably return to life, plunging three families into chaos as their deceased loved ones reappear. Who are they, and what do they want?

It was released all the way back in January this year. Learn more about Handling the Undead here.

Outside

This is a Philippine zombie movie and looks very interesting. It will be available on Netflix on October 17th. The trailer was released just two weeks ago!

"A family attempts to escape a zombie apocalypse by heading to the father's old farmhouse. They work hard to secure the place against "The Dead Ones." However, they soon realize that the ancestral home holds just as much horror and trauma as the dangers lurking outside."

Festival of the Living Dead

This teen horror zombie movie was released on Tubi back in April. It describes itself as being in the same universe as Night of the Living Dead (which, due to some distribution oopsies, went into public domain many years ago).

During a festival to commemorate the first zombie outbreak, Ash and her friends come face to face with the undead. They must band together to defend themselves or risk being consumed.

Love You as the World Ends Final

If you know about Japan's Love You as the World Ends show, then you may have heard that it would get a final closing movie, much like The Walking Dead (whose three planned movies converted into a 6-episode show instead). By the way, this show has been compared to The Walking Dead and is regarded as Japan's The Walking Dead by some.

The movie released back in January and officially marked the story, spanning 5 seasons, as finished. Due to possible spoilers, I won't include the plot here.

The Package

A Thai zombie movie! So far they seem pretty rare, and this movie in particular catches the South Korean zombie aesthetic. Fast and jittery infected galore.

A journey of survival unfolds as a group takes on a mission where hope is the final thing they cling to.

We Bury the Dead

Not too much is known about this movie yet. It's set to release in November, but no trailer has dropped yet.

"Ava, a desperate woman whose husband is missing in the aftermath of a catastrophic military experiment, joins a "body retrieval unit", but her search takes a chilling turn when the corpses she's burying start showing signs of life."

It seems like an interesting premise, a little bit like Handling the Undead that we covered earlier, a bit more horror thriller to it rather than high-octane action.

Trizombie

This movie, released in February, looks less like a horror movie and more lighthearted, which we all need sometimes. The premise seems to be relatively unique as well. It seems they are also working on a miniseries.

In a zombie-filled world, a group of unlikely heroes embark on a dangerous journey to rescue their missing friend.
